Workplace Violence

Workplace violence has become an increasingly serious concern in the corporate environment. Factors such as corporate downsizing, employee stress, financial problems, substance abuse, and financial issues are just some of the problems that can lead to violence in the workplace.

Prior planning and preparation can drastically reduce these types of incidents and reduce an employer’s liability. This is accomplished through a stringent pre-employment screening process that requires the employer to have an applicant sign a series of releases/waivers that will allow the employer to thoroughly screen and make informed decisions on an applicants potential for violence.

nce that are rigidly and consistently enforced are necessary for the safety and security of all employees. At HarborSite, we have an expert team of human resources specialists with specific experience and training in employment law, policy and procedure development, and related matters.

Workplace Terminations
Terminating employees is never a pleasant job and can be dangerous to upper management and employees alike. If there is even the most remote concern that the terminated employee will turn violent, management should be notified immediately and a decision made that is based on the need to protect employees.

In many cases of workplace violence it has been proven that the perpetrator made threats to co-workers and friends that they were going to commit the act. In suspected cases where threats have been made, an investigation should be completed and an action plan developed to respond to the crisis

HarborSite can assist you in planning and preparation to reduce the dangers to yourself or other employees through workplace violence prevention planning and by providing an on-site security presence during and after termination. Our security team will conduct an assessment and coordinate with corporate security, management personnel, and local law enforcement to assist in protecting your personnel and assets.
